Left out and blocked
- Input fields and editable areas are left out of page translation.

- Clear the cache in the extension settings. On a shared NAS companion, this clears the shared cache.
- Remove the extension. The cache on your PC or NAS is not deleted with it.
- Keep the connection token and the local start-up log to yourself.

Full policy
Translated from the Korean original, which is the authoritative text.
Lingua Layer is a Firefox extension that translates foreign-language content you choose. It runs manually by default, and you can turn on automatic translation for sites you specify.
When you translate, the text you extracted or selected, the surrounding context and, where needed, the page title are passed to the companion on the PC or NAS you configured. For image and manga translation, the selected image or screen region and the recognised text are passed. The companion sends this to OpenAI through the Codex CLI signed in with your ChatGPT account. The policies of that OpenAI service and your account settings apply to the processing.
Content is not sent to any translation server run by the developer, and there are no advertising, analytics or tracking features. Text recognition in images runs on the companion. On first use, the OCR language files it needs may be downloaded from a public repository on GitHub.
Input fields, editable areas and the like are excluded from page translation, and screen captures that overlap sensitive input areas, or areas whose contents cannot be inspected, are blocked. It cannot identify all personal information contained directly in ordinary text or images, so do not select sensitive content. This version does not run in private windows.
The server address, the connection token, and display and site settings remain in Firefox storage on your device. Your ChatGPT sign-in details are not entered into the extension; the official Codex CLI on your PC or NAS manages them. The connection token may be displayed while running locally, or remain in the local start-up log, so do not share that file or the token.
Translation results and related information are stored in the disk cache of the companion on your PC or NAS. There is no time-based automatic expiry; as the size limit is reached, items that have not been used for a long time are removed. You can delete it with the clear-cache option in the extension settings. If a NAS companion is shared, clearing the cache applies to that companion’s shared cache. Removing the extension does not automatically delete the cache on the PC or NAS. Temporary images used for a job are deleted when the job finishes normally.
